ILOVENY OFFERS PRIZES FOR BEST NEW YORK SHORT FILMS

HAUPPAUGE, NY –(April 29, 2008)- In cooperation with ILOVE NY, the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau (LICVB) is encouraging professional and amateur film makers to participate in the I Love NY Short Film Competition starting June 1, 2008. The LICVB is asking filmmakers (ages 14 and up) to send New York State a 60-second short film creatively highlighting the Long Island region, the distinctive places, unique characters, and hidden gems that make Long Island special. 

Filmmakers will be able to submit their films between June 1 and July 15. A panel of celebrity judges, including Philip Seymour Hoffman, Tina Fey, and Doug Litman will review the entries and select the winners, which will be announced in the fall.

The winning short will be aired on television.  Other prizes include professional HD video equipment, scholarships to film workshops, New York vacations, and more. There are also special awards given for student filmmakers and regional films. In addition to the grand prize, awards will be given to the top young filmmakers (18 and under), the top student filmmaker (student at a NYS college/university) and six regional winners.
