Exibitions at the Pollock-Krasner House presents Lee Krasner: Little Image Paintings 1949-1950
Soon after Lee Krasner moved to Easthampton 1945, she began to develop a series of allover abstract compositions that she later called her little image paintings. They were not notable for their richly impastoed surfaces, mosaic-like structure and galligraphic imagery. To celebrate the century of Krasners birth the museum will feature 9 of those paintings, together with one of her mosaic tables and an early self potrait. Lenders include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Phildelphia Museum of Art, Guild Hall Museum, AXA Financial, the Pollock-Krasner foundation, and several Private collectors. The Author of the catalogue essay is Gail Levin, the 2006 Pollock Krasner/Stony brook Research Fellow, who is currently at work on a biography of Krasner.
